OCS Client side logging

You have had issues with various aspects of Office Communicator. But how to check what the client is doing and where it is failing???
You can enable client side logging gor troubleshooting. Here is to enable tracing:

1. Go to start then regedit to enter the registry editor
2. Go to HKCU\software\microsoft\tracing\uccp\
3. There are a 3 areas that you can trace: Office communicator, the conferencing API and Live Meeting. For Live meeting tracing see my earlier post: http://christopheranesh.blogspot.com/2009/09/live-meeting-logging.html
4. For the communicator client, enter that folder and change the value of enabletracing from 0 to 1. 1 being tracing is enabled.
5. The tracing infomration will be by default stored on the users profile in a folder called tracing.
6. Exit registory and reproduce your error.
6. View the tracing information. You may want to use the snooper.exe tool from the resource kit to troubleshoot the error.
